Is your ambient temperature incorrect?

If so, this is more than likely the culprit. This probe sits in several different locations and is dependent on the vehicle but mostly it sits under the front bumper of your BMW. Road debris and other types of impacts can damage this sensor resulting in incorrect/static readings which also means you can’t use your air conditioning.

On vehicles with an electric blower motor for the DME/electronics box this sensor if missing or damaged will prevent the fan from turning on which can cause critical electronics to overheat.
